Fonseca: A History Worth Celebrating
Fonseca released its first Vintage Port in 1840 and has been crafting exceptional vintages ever since, including 1927, 1948, 1977, and 1994 that each received 100 point scores. Fonseca prides itself in their sustainable vineyard management and winery practices that span over three estates: Quinta do Panascal, Quinta de Santo Antonio, and Quinta do Cruzeiro.
Fonseca is one of the classic Vintage Port houses that has seen five generations of the Guimaraens family at the helm of their traditional winemaking style. In 2006, Fonseca was the first winery to produce Port made from entirely organic grapes.
The Fonseca White Port is a vegan-friendly, moderately sweet wine produced with a blend of Arinto, Malvasia Fina, Codega, Esgana Cão, Folgasão, Gouveio, Viosinho and Rabigato grapes. The wines receive approximately three years in oak separately before being blended into the final product. Complex, yet entirely balanced notes of pecan, tropical fruit, and light citrus create a subtle profile that lends to easy sipping or as a versatile cocktail addition.
