🔥Fireside Feast Last night I attended @thegrangewine Fireside Feast. It was a wonderful wine dinner prepared by Head chef Keirra to celebrate the launch of The Grange’s new 2023 Estate wines, with their estate Pinot Gris and estate Victoria Block Rosé being poured among others. We were then guided through the cellar to barrel taste winemaker Jonas Newman’s estate Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Franc. Let me tell you…exciting wines coming down the pipeline!! With a semi-relaunch of winery under new ownership that includes a new winemaker, culinary program, and pending wedding venue and airstrip, it’s safe to say the future is once again bright for The Grange. I love doing side-by-sides so I thought today would be the perfect time to taste these two gorgeous Pinot Noir from @leaningpostwine ! 🍷Leaning Post Pinot Noir 2021 This is an unfiltered Pinot Noir that sees 15 months french oak. It opens with hypnotizing aromas of sweet and sour cherry, dried roses, and a hint of milk chocolate. Light-bodied, with an elegant palate that delivers well-integrated notes of earth, pomegranate, dried herbs and dried leaves. Subtle mineral and woodsy nuances persist on an extended finish showcasing its complexity, quality, and overall well-rounded flavour profile. 🍷Leaning Post Hemeris Vineyard Pinot Noir 2020 This single-vineyard Pinot Noir comes from the Beamsville Bench sub-appellation and sees a 15 month aging period in French oak. Beautifully perfumed with an exceptionally enticing fragrances of bright red fruits and baking spices. A fine-boned framework of velvety tannings encapsulates its juicy acidity that gracefully spears thru ripe raspberry and cinnamon. High elevation grapes from 450m to 1100m a.s.l. calculate freshness and supple, supportive tannins.
